Hi, I’m Mike!

And I love taking pictures!

Photography changed the way I travel through life. Whether it’s my Canon R6, my DJI Air2S or my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra I always have a way to take a picture or capture a moment and because of that I’m always looking for those moments, those opportunities. To me, the moments we see, the memories we capture are part of what makes us unique. Photography lets us capture that uniqueness and share it with others.

As a sailboat owner and photography enthusiast I’m bringing together two of my passions to offer fellow sailors the opportunity to create lasting memories of their boat.

As a boat owner myself I appreciate the challenge to get a good picture of your own boat with sails up and a stunning back drop. Having a boat in Boston Harbor has given me a great appreciation for the beauty of the backdrop of the Boston skyline.

Engineer - Trained as a Mechanical Engineer and working in manufacturing since 2006 has given me the passion to understand things. Camera technology and photography is one of those things. Understanding the fundamental construction and working principles of cameras gives me a unique perspective of how to take a good picture. I’m still new to photography but I love to further my knowledge about it every day. I use this knowledge to help me take the best photographs possible.

Technology/Camera Enthusiast - I’ve always enjoyed understanding how things work, especially when I have an interest in it. Knowing the intimate details of the components that go into my camera helps me “make the most of it”. From CMOS sensor size and pixel density to the lens mounting, alignment and calibration, I love to take things apart; to learn how they go together. I have no plans to take my current camera apart but I may have looked up its’ construction online when making the decision on which camera to buy.

Sailor - I’ve loved being in, on and around the water my entire life. Growing up I spent summers hauling lobster traps with my grandfather in Gouldsboro, Maine and visiting my other grandparents on Hampton Beach developing a love for the ocean. I was drawn to sailing by the challenge of learning something new, the connection to nature when harnessing the wind and the slow pace. Learning new things is an important part of my life and sailing provides ample opportunities to continue to learn and grow new skills. After 2 years of owning a boat I feel I’ve only scratched the surface of what I can learn. Being able to harness the wind no matter the direction and adjust your sails in just the right position to get to your destination provides a great feeling of empowerment. Having a maximum hull speed of around 8 knots and rarely a destination in mind, sailing forces you to slow down and enjoy your surroundings. This is a journey to nowhere that I plan to be on for the rest of my life.

Traveler - To help put the size of the Earth in perspective, there are 57.3 million square miles of land on Earth (only around 30% of the surface area) and the state of Massachusetts, where I’ve lived my entire life, only occupies 10,565 square miles of it. That means Massachusetts only occupies 0.02% or 1/5000th of the land area on the earth. There are thousands of cultures, climates, landscapes and people that look and think differently than one another which each provide a unique perspective. When I travel I enjoy researching ahead and keeping my eyes open while I’m there to find and capture the beauty and essence of these differences and create memories that will last forever and inspire others to travel.
